Caxton College Competition Sports Present Their 25/26 Teams

The Caxton College Competition Sports (CD) successfully held the official presentation of their teams yesterday on the football 8 pitch, in an event that reaffirmed the institution's commitment to sport as a basic part of education.

The event began with the presentation of the competition teams across the four disciplines: football, basketball, swimming, and tennis. The day gave special prominence to tennis, highlighting the recent renovation of the school's tennis courts.

Brilliant Exhibition Tennis

The highlight of the event was the participation of two semi-professional tennis players, Andrés Santamarta, currently ranked 3rd in the World Tennis Tour Juniors, and Sergio Planella, the national champion in his age group in 2023, widely considered to be the future of Spanish tennis. They delighted attendees with an exhibition match followed by a training clinic with the academy players, a vibrant example of the best tennis for the families who attended to support a strong base in sport.

Growth of the Caxton Tennis Academy

The Caxton Tennis Academy has demonstrated growth year after year thanks to the direction of Víctor Lucena and the hard work of its highly qualified coaches: Carlos Mengual, and this year's new addition, Belén Lacueva. The academy’s focus is to promote initiation into the sport from an early age to discover new talents, offering small groups, structured by level, that allow each player to improve their individual technique and access to the world of competition.

Institutional Alliances and Key Sponsors

The event saw the notable presence of Carlos Ortiz from Villarreal Football Club, underlining the importance of the agreement that this institution maintains with the school’s competition sports.

During the presentation, the CD publicly expressed its gratitude for the fundamental support of its sponsors, who have backed the teams in recent years: Porcelanosa, Ascale, Kelme, Moontels and l’Epicentre. Their support has been fundamental to the growth of the competition sports teams, which are proof of Caxton College's commitment to sport since its beginnings.
