Student Wellbeing: Our Constant Priority

By Irina Tobias, Secondary SENCo

We work continually to promote wellbeing among all of the members of our educational community, and to further this aim, in recent weeks we have inaugurated a new space for Secondary students: the Calm Corner, which is located in a quiet area of the Secondary outdoor area.

This is a space where anyone can take a break, read, play chess, or just have a moment to recharge. It isn’t just a space for some, it’s for all of us, and it’s important that we make sure that our school is a place where everyone feels welcome.

This project is also aligned with our ongoing book recycling initiative across the school, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and shared learning. By donating a book to the Outdoor Library in the Calm Corner, students not only contribute to creating a supportive space but also help give books a second life, making reading accessible to more members of our school community whilst caring for the environment.

The Calm Corner is just the beginning of what we can build when we show up for one another, because being part of a community isn’t just about coexisting—it’s about getting involved, looking out for each other and creating a positive impact, and building a space where everyone feels comfortable and valued.
