Finding My Path after Caxton College

By Miguel Ruiz, former student at Caxton College in Valencia

Since leaving Caxton, my academic and professional path hasn’t followed a straight line, and I’m grateful for that. I initially began a different degree, but a series of circumstances led me to rethink where my true passion lies. Making this change was a difficult but transformative decision and I found the courage to take a risk and pursue a career more aligned with my passions.

That decision eventually led me to Milan, where I’m now completing a double Master’s in Fashion Brand & Product Management with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, one of the most important fashion institutions in the world. This experience has allowed me to specialise in brand identity, communication and product development, getting first hand experiences from the Italian fashion system.

Professionally, things have moved quickly. I got an internship and debuted in my first Milan Fashion Week as the direct designer’s assistant, and I now help manage the brand alongside the designer, Lorenzo Seghezzi. Taking on such responsibility so early has been challenging, inspiring and incredibly rewarding. I truly feel like I’m learning a lot and I’m extremely grateful for it.

Looking ahead, I hope to continue building my own creative projects whilst growing within the industry and working with brands that value innovation, design and storytelling.

Caxton College played a fundamental role in shaping my journey so far. The school taught me to communicate confidently, to express myself, and to believe in my ability to create my own opportunities. The curiosity, independence and resilience I rely on today began there, and they are the reason I took a risk, pursued what I truly wanted, and always chose to speak up and put myself out there.
