The Foundations of Education
Creativity is at the heart of our pupils' learning
In the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, play has a fundamental role through which children discover the world around them. For this reason, we have various creative learning areas that encourage exploration, independence, and cooperation. Part of our daily teaching takes place in outdoor classrooms where our pupils enjoy a stimulating environment, as the connection between learning and nature is a crucial factor in intellectual and emotional development. In this educational context, we aim to stimulate children's participation, collaboration and interest.

Education in Social Responsibility
We aim to ensure that each child understands that values such as respect, perseverance and resilience are ones that they should implement in their daily lives. Just like sowing a seed, this instils a sense of responsibility in them so that ideas related to the sustainability of the planet will blossom in the future. The educational resources and the classroom architecture convey messages that help build a narrative in favour of environmental protection, fair trade, charity and social inclusion, among many other topics covered by the sustainable development goals.
Curricular Enrichment
Learning is reinforced and enriched with a wide range of experiences for children, both in and outside of school. The children enjoy excursions to attractive destinations including farms or castles, and receive visits from professionals in different sectors such as policemen, doctors, writers and many more. These real-life experiences, as a complement to the education offered by Caxton College, are an exceptional way of enriching our children’s development.
Visitors
Experienced professionals visit the classrooms to reinforce our learning topics with first hand experiences.
Special Days
The school celebrates the commemoration of notable international days to complement other educational initiatives.
Trips
Each year the school organises trips to places of interest to complement the learning worked on in the classroom.
Outdoor Learning
Classrooms include outdoor learning areas where pupils can find emotional wellbeing each day.
Psychologist and Special Educational Needs
Our team works closely with teachers, teaching assistants and support teachers to help pupils with additional needs.
Support is given to both families and teachers in the following areas:

✦ Development of autonomy and gross motor skills

Assessment
Continual Assessment
Teachers continually assess pupils throughout the academic year by using structured observations or by completing small group or individual tasks.
Learning Objectives
Pupil progress is assessed based on the initial objectives from the EYFS Framework.
Meetings and Points of Contact
There are two official parent meetings during the school year, although either teachers or families may request further meetings if necessary.
Reports
Written reports are sent home at the end of each term for all pupils and are based on the learning objectives from the EYFS Framework. Children develop their skills, knowledge and comprehension in order to ease the transition into the following stage.
The report includes the specific objectives that have been covered during the term. Depending on the children’s attainment, each objective will appear below one of two headings, as follows:

It is important to remember that all children develop at different rates. If children are identified as needing extra support at any point in the school year, the family will be contacted, and a meeting arranged with the class teacher.
