United against Bullying: Using Our 'Power for Good'

By Jason Philip, Secondary Deputy Head Academics & Pastoral

From 10 to 14 November, Caxton College dedicated the week to our annual Anti-Bullying Campaign under the theme ‘Power for Good’. This vital, whole-school initiative ran across our Primary, Secondary, and Sixth Form sections, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining a kind, inclusive, and zero-tolerance community.

The aim of the campaign is to empower every student and staff member to actively prevent bullying. Through a range of age-appropriate activities and assemblies, pupils explored the different forms bullying can take—including emotional, verbal, physical and online (cyberbullying). A core message of the week was the power of speaking out. We are proudly a "telling school" and encourage everyone to remember the powerful acronym: STOP—which stands for Several Times On Purpose and Start Telling Other People. This message, integrated into our PSHE curriculum and school ethos, makes it clear that respect is paramount.

The week culminated in the fun and meaningful Odd Socks Day. All pupils and staff were invited to wear two different socks to celebrate the diversity, uniqueness, and individuality within our community. By participating, we celebrated what makes each of us special and reinforced the idea that we all have the 'Power for Good' to speak out, support others, and build a world where kindness wins. Let's ensure the respect we have worked to foster this week continues to thrive throughout the year.
